Description: The German cockroach is one of the most common species found within households. Easily recognizable by their tan or light brown color with two horizontal black strips, they are 1.1 – 1.6 cm in length.

Biology: Breeding continually, the German cockroach can survive up to 200 days. The female can produce on average; four to six egg capsules, each containing anywhere from 30 – 40 eggs. In some cases, the female can produce almost 400 eggs in her lifespan.

Habits: Despite having wings, the German cockroach prefers to run instead of fly. Nocturnal pests, they tend to remain hidden during the day and will scavenge for food in the evening and during the night. Often found near kitchens and bathrooms, they can survive on things like soap, books, crumbs, and even remnants left on dirty dishes in a sink.
Control: German Cockroaches are small and adept at hiding very efficiently within human environments. Due to these abilities, their populations grow swiftly and require professional treatment to remove them.
